Minimalistic In Leelanau

Image
Courtesy Of Worldwide Elevation In the dunes above Empire Village, The landscape is spare, Stripped to its essentials ... By the constant scourging Of wind, sand and water. Whatever is here ... Is only what is  needed For this place to be. Like jack pine, bearberry and dune grass. Anything else would be a waste. And so, ... With each step of my ascent, I must let go ... Of pretense,  Of airs,  Of vanity, ... And bring nothing That isn't needed ... For this place to be. Image
Leelanau Dark Sky - Courtesy Of Leelanau Energy If I could look back in time, ... Back nearly to the beginning of time, I would see that all of Leelanau, From Sleeping Bear Dunes to Grand Traverse Bay, From North Manitou Island to Platte River,                 , And every living thing within, Including myself, Owes its very existence, ... To a star, .... A star which, By dying in a luminous explosion,  Created every element necessary For the existence of ... Everything. And we thought it was just "twinkle, twinkle ...."
