Summit  At  Empire  Bluffs


If only you were a dune in the Land of Delight, ...

 Standing tall and proud above the big lake.

 With such great heft and height,

You would never be intimidated.

 Coronavirus would have no sting.

Your view would extend for miles in all directions.

 As morning mists refresh your summit,

 Cooling waters would caress your lower sands.

 Though you would be trod on by occasional animals and humans,

 Their footfalls would feel so light ...

 As to be almost pleasant.

For the most part, it is immoveable, dependable, Supportive of the weight of our bodies ... And our lives. Even during the most difficult times. Times when, on the other side of the world, The earth is not so dependable - Giving way, And swallowing our sisters and brothers. Here in Leelanau, ... We walk, and climb, and sit on our dunes.
