      Empire Village, Michigan, home of the Lakeshore, has been my Leelanau Up North getaway for over 20 years.  I am refreshed and renewed with each visit to this little town on the big lake.

For the most part, it is immoveable, dependable, Supportive of the weight of our bodies ... And our lives. Even during the most difficult times. Times when, on the other side of the world, The earth is not so dependable - Giving way, And swallowing our sisters and brothers. Here in Leelanau, ... We walk, and climb, and sit on our dunes.
